Pre-Hackathon Reading Material

Prepare for the Hackathon

To ensure all participants are equipped to make the most of the hackathon, we’ve compiled a list of pre-read materials and resources. These resources cover essential skills for collaborative coding, R programming, and Git/GitHub workflows.

Pre-Reading Materials

  • Git and GitHub: Collaborative coding will be a core component of the hackathon. Please review the following materials to ensure you’re familiar with these tools:

    • Introduction to GitHub

    • GitHub for Beginners

    • More GitHub Tips

  • R Programming: Many of the hackathon activities will involve R. The following resources will help you get up to speed:

    • Introduction to R

    • R for Data Science

  • R Package Development: For those interested in contributing to package development or using custom R packages:

    • R Packages Book

Software Setup

Before the event, ensure the following are installed and set up on your laptop:

  • R

  • RStudio

  • Git
